James “Mickey” Michael Matsen

Born October 29, 1953 in Waukesha, WI

James died July 24, 2024 at St. Croix Hospice in Muskego, WI. James was a long time Waukesha resident attending Waukesha High School. He met his Wife, Karen, at a church social and they married on June 8, 1970. Sadly, James lost his wife to Covid in 2020.

James was very active in the churches in which he was a member, serving as an usher and other volunteer work – notably, St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Waukesha and most recently, Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Wauwatosa, WI.

Family connections were very important to him. He made an extra effort to stay in touch with extended family.

A lover of music and everything Elvis, he amassed quite a collection of record albums and Elvis memorabilia.

Those by whom James was preceded in death includes his Wife, Karen S. Matsen (nee Lyons); parents, John R. Matsen and Ann Matsen (nee Flaker); and his brother, John P. Matsen. He is survived by his sister, Bette Matsen and brothers, Robert Matsen and David Matsen (Marcia).

A visitation will be held August 19, 2024 beginning at 10:00am and going until 11:00am with Services to immediately follow at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church (12012 W. North Ave, Wauwatosa, WI)
