Romaine R. (Mick) Scherf

Romaine R. (Mick) Scherf went home to heaven on Sunday Oct. 25, 2026 at the age of 92. He was born on September 9, 1934 in Waukesha, WI to parents Henry and Ora (Galoff) Scherf. Mick grew up in Waukesha. He met Mary Jane (Meyer) and they were married on June 3rd, 1967 at Grace Lutheran Church in Waukesha. They moved to Minocqua, WI in 1968 when they bought Cross Trails Restaurant and Motel with Mick's brother Harlow and his wife Diane. They spent 10 years there where children Greg, Kim, and Mike were born. They moved back to Waukesha in 1978 and opened Fox Run Laundry which they owned until retirement in 1999. Mick and Mary Jane moved to Wales, WI that same year, where they spent many years babysitting their grandchildren Ashley, Katie, and Emily. They also spent a lot of time at their camper in Door County.

Mick is survived by his sons Greg and Mike (Jennifer), his grandchildren Ashley (Edgar), Katie (Derik), and Emily (Ashton), and great-grandchildren Willow and Edgar. He treasured his grand-daughters and their families.

Mick was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years Mary Jane, their daughter Kim, his siblings Orine (Sonny), Audrey, and Harlow.

A visitation will be held on Sunday Nov. 1 from 2-4pm with a service to follow at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 1941 Madison St., Waukesha, WI 53188.

In lieu of flowers donations would be appreciated to one of Mick's favorite charites - St. Jude Childrens's Research Hospital
