Carol Pobuda
d. Oct 9, 2026
Carol Pobuda, 90, of Punta Gorda, FL, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2026, with her family by her side.
Carol was born on May 25, 1936, in Willimantic, Connecticut, to Ernest and Barbara (nee Zizka) Becker.
A 1953 graduate of Windham High School, Carol began her career in administrative and financial services. She first worked for Connecticut Light and Power before pausing to focus on raising her two young boys. Once they reached school age, she returned to the workforce as school secretary at Windham Center Elementary School.
In 1975, Carol and her husband Bill relocated to Florida, where she continued her administrative career as a legal secretary and later joined the trust department at First National Bank and Trust Company of Stuart. Carol then became a licensed financial professional working for First Union Brokerage Services until her well-deserved retirement.
Carol had a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. Known for her gentle spirit, she was kind and caring to anyone she met. She enjoyed reading, knitting, traveling, and exploring the outdoors through camping and RVing. She held a special place in her heart for her dogs, but above all else, she cherished the time spent with her family.
Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, William Pobuda, and by her son, Gerald Pobuda. She is survived by her son, Jim (Joy) Pobuda of Punta Gorda, Florida; her daughter-in-law, Betts Pobuda of Waynesville, North Carolina; her granddaughter, Rachel Pobuda of Selma, North Carolina; two step-grandsons; and five step-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Carol's memory to Affinity Care of Florida.
