Caroline Jeanette Roosa
Nov 5, 1937 — Sep 22, 2026
Caroline Jeanette Roosa, 88, of Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2026.
Carol is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Charles Roosa, her devoted daughter, Karen Griffin-Roosa (Moira) of Washington, DC, loving son, Eric Roosa (Sarah) of Swanzey, NH and brother, Frederick "Don" Field of Littleton, MA. She was a loving grandmother to EJ, Kayla, and Rowan. Her family was at the heart of her life, and she took great pride in the people they became.
Carol also held a special place in the lives of her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed being part of the larger family, sharing in family gatherings, celebrations, stories, and the everyday moments that brought them altogether. She will be remembered as a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and family member whose presence helped keep family connections strong across the generations.
Carol graduated from Arms Academy in Shelburne Falls, MA in 1955. She received a B.S. in Education from Springfield College in 1959 and her master's degree from the University of Connecticut & Keene State College. Her teaching career spanned two decades from the high school level to college math. She made a friend for life while in Connecticut. Mary Faignant was a constant in Carol's life.
Carol had a warm appreciation for the simple pleasures in life and especially enjoyed following her favorite teams. She was a diehard Boston Red Sox fan and loved UConn basketball. She was an amazing athlete, excelling in basketball, softball and tennis in her youth, then as an adult became an avid golfer, bowler and loved playing pickle ball with Charlie. She was always up for a good card game with anyone daring enough to challenge her.
She was predeceased by her parents, Jeanette and Frederick Field and her sister, Diane Scott. She will be cremated in Florida. A donation to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research is greatly appreciated by the family, as she put up a brave fight with the disease. www.give.michaeljfox.org. A graveside memorial service will follow in West Swanzey, NH in the summer of 2027.
