Delbert O'Niel Tyson

Delbert Oneil Tyson of Port Charlotte, Florida departed this life on August 10, 2026.

Born on December 30, 1951, to the late Ivan & Sylvia Tyson. He was the first of seven children.

Delbert possessed a gentle spirit and a fierce dedication to family. He will be remembered for his generous kindness towards family and friends and his ability to find humor even as adversity surrounds a situation.

After leaving high school and attending teachers’ college, Delbert taught at the Charlestown Boys School the emigrated to the United States Virgin Islands, St. Thomas. There he seeked employment in accounting and retail before joining the United States Coast Guard. Upon being honorably discharged he seeked employment in the private sector for several years. As his health deteriorated, he moved from his many years of residence in Miami to be near family in Port Charlotte, FL.

His quiet strength defined his persona. A true family treasure has left an indelible legacy for us all to emulate.
