Domenico Tumminaro
Aug 3, 1938 — Sep 24, 2026
Domenico Tumminaro, 88, of Punta Gorda, Florida, sadly passed away on Thursday, September 24,2026 surrounded by the love of his family.
Domenico was born to Giuseppe and Maria Tumminaro and was one of four boys. He was proudly and unapologetically 100% Sicilian—and he made sure everyone around him knew it.
In 1959, Domenico came to the United States, where he met the love of his life, Maria. Together they built a beautiful life and raised their three children, Joseph, Donna, and Maddalena.
Domenico was a hardworking and proud business owner who devoted much of his life to the restaurant business. He owned and operated L&D Pizzeria in Brooklyn before moving with Maria and their three children to Staten Island in 1972. There, he continued his passion for food and hospitality, owning and operating Villa D’Este Pizzeria for more than 24-years. His restaurants became places where people gathered, shared meals, told stories, and made lasting memories.
After retiring from the restaurant business, Domenico and Maria settled in New Jersey before eventually moving to Punta Gorda, Florida.
Domenico will be remembered for so much more than his accomplishments. He had a personality that was impossible to forget and a gift for making the people around him laugh and smile. He also had his own collection of simple pleasures and daily traditions that made him who he was. Domenico loved good food, especially cheese, pasta, and ice cream, and he never turned down a glass of wine. He was known for doing crossword puzzles, taking plenty of walks, beating his family members in checkers and pool, and watching his favorite television shows, including Judge Judy and Jerry Springer.
Above all, Domenico was a devoted husband of 64-years, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Maria; his three children, Joseph, Donna, and Maddalena; seven grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
Domenico lived a full life filled with hard work, family, laughter, good food, and countless memories. Everyone who knew Domenico loved him, and he had a way of leaving an impression that could never be forgotten.
His greatest legacy will always be the family he built, the people he made laugh, the traditions he passed down, and the memories he created along the way.
Domenico will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
