Glenda Faye Burks

Jan 5, 1942 — Mar 18, 2026

Glenda Faye Burks passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 18, 2026, at the age of 84, with her devoted husband of 63 years, Jack Burks, by her side.

Glenda was born and raised in Sylacauga, Alabama. She spent most of her adult life in Memphis, Tennessee, where she and Jack raised their family and built a life centered around love, faith, and togetherness.

Glenda was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose greatest joy in life was her family. She is survived by her beloved husband, Jack Burks, and her three children: Tony Burks, Mike Burks, and Debbie (Burks) Wilson. She cherished her role as “Nana” to her six grandchildren—Mary Alice, Colton, Caroline, Jacob, Alex, and Allison—who brought her endless pride and happiness.

She had a passion for cooking and was known for her delicious Southern recipes, often made with herbs and vegetables she lovingly grew in her own garden. She especially loved preparing Thanksgiving meals, where her cornbread dressing—loved by all—was always a family favorite. Glenda found her happiest moments surrounded by family, especially during vacations spent together creating a lifetime of memories that will be treasured for generations.

Glenda’s sweetness, love, and unwavering devotion to her family will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A private service will be held at Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home in Punta Gorda, Florida, on Saturday, March 21st, at 2 p.m. with a celebration of Glenda’s life to be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
