Gloria Walker ( nee Lapp) Punta Gorda, Fl. joined our Heavenly Father for her Celebration of Eternal Life on August 17, 2026. Gloria, 85 years old, was born July 26, 1941 and was raised in Chicago IL. She attended Providence High School in Chicago and Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois. Gloria married Richard D Walker in Dekalb IL. in 1962 and settled there, where she began her career in banking. That career spanned for 34 years in IL and FL. ending with her retirement from Southtrust Bank (formerly First of America Bank) in FL in 1998. In Dekalb Gloria was actively involved in community and professional organizations, including Financial Women International, Business and Professional Women, Barb City Manor Retirement Center, Kishwaukee College Office Systems Advisory Committee, City of Dekalb Finance
Advisory Board, Girl Scouts of America, City of Dekalb Police Pension Fund Secretary and many others. In Punta Gorda, FL. since 1994 she was actively involved in Kiwanis, American Women's Business Association, Punta Gorda Business and Community Alliance, Punta Gorda Historical Society, PGI Civic Association, Historic Charlotte County CourtHouse, Punta Gorda Club for Tennis and Fitness, Sacred Heart Church Social Ministry, St. Vincent DePaul Society, Punta Gorda Boat Club and formally served on the Chamber of Commerce Business Services Committee, March of Dimes Walk America and Financial Women’s International.
On April 9, 2022 Gloria married Ralph Tommasino of Punta Gorda FL. They both loved to travel and made many trips together.
Gloria is survived by her husband Ralph Tommasino of Punta Gorda, FL, her daughter Kimberly Walker of Mahopac, NY., her sister Marilyn Wendell of Naperville, IL. and her brother Joseph Lapp Jr. of Sandwich, IL. Gloria is predeceased by her late husband Richard D Walker, her brother Charles Lapp Sr. her sister Nancy Gibbons
and sister Susan Mictchell.
Gloria’s Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Mario Kono at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 15th at 11:00 AM. After, the family invites friends to the Punta Gorda Boat Club, 802 Reta Esplanade for a gathering reception. A memorial for donations will benefit St. Vincent dePaul Society at Sacred Heart Church.
