Herbert Douglas McCool

“Herb” “Doug” Herbert Douglas McCool of Port Charlotte, Florida died on September 15, 2026. He was 79 years old. Born on February 14, 1947, in Springfield, Ohio to Harold and Anna Lillian (Shellabarger) McCool. He grew up in Enon, Ohio and graduated from Greenon High School.

He was proud to be a Vietnam Veteran, having served three tours of duty there while in the United States Army. He lived in Port Charlotte since 1986 and attended Family Church PC.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Herbert Douglas is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Linda McCool of Brandon, Florida. Daughters Amy (David) Beery of Indianapolis, Indiana, Melissa (Duane) Kamstra of Willmar, Minnesota, and Martha Jones of Xenia, Ohio. Grandchildren Catherine Weber, Selina (Zakk) Schmitz, Heather Kamstra, Angel Jones, Jacob Jones, and Anna Jones. Great grandchildren Rory Weber and David Schmitz.

Interment of his ashes will take place at Charlotte Memorial Cemetery in Punta Gorda, Florida.
