Robert John Dewire
Mar 15, 1939 — Nov 15, 2025
Robert John Dewire
Bob Dewire, 86, of Punta Gorda, FL and Pine, AZ passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at Tidewell Hospice in Port Charlotte, Florida due to complications from dementia. Bob was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many.
Born in Chicago, IL on March 15, 1939, Bob graduated from Weber High School in Chicago and Bradley University in Peoria, IL. After marrying his beloved wife Carol (née Ptak), the two remained in the Chicago area to raise their family. Bob worked for Sears, Roebuck & Company for over 30 years until he and Carol retired and moved to Punta Gorda, FL in 1996.
Bob and Carol loved boating in their cruising power boat that Bob named “Nauti-Carol.” They frequently went away for multiple days to destinations all over southwestern Florida. They were founding members of the Mariners of PGI boating club where they created wonderful memories with many good friends.
Sadly, Carol passed away earlier this year in September. Bob is survived by his son, Brian Dewire and his wife Cathy Dun; daughter, Renee Dewire and her husband James Domino; grandchildren, Travis Dewire (Lindsey Winburne), Dylan Dewire, Collin Domino, Jasper Domino, and Quentin Domino; great-grandchildren, Koda, Ivy, and Presley Dewire. Bob also leaves behind many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, and a large circle of friends across Florida, Arizona, and Illinois.
In Bob’s memory, those grieving are encouraged to celebrate his life and share their fond memories. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity in support of dementia or aphasia research and support services, such as the Dementia Society of America.
