Charles Henry Blythe, 68, of Frankfort, Kentucky, peacefully departed this life on Saturday, July 25, 2026.Born on August 27, 1957, in Frankfort, Kentucky, Charles was the son of the late Betty Jean Blythe and James Washington, Sr. Affectionately known as “Charlie” by his family and friends, he lived a life marked by service, dedication, and compassion. 

Charlie proudly served his country in the United States Army as a member of the elite 82nd Airborne Division. Following his military service, he devoted many years to the Commonwealth of Kentucky, serving as a behavioral specialist and postal clerk with State Government, where he made a meaningful difference in the lives of countless individuals. He was also a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated and Prince Hall Masonic Lodge.

In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Letitia Blythe.

He leaves to cherish his memory his sisters, Kim (Kirk) Jewell and Tajuana Blythe; brother, Danny (Patti) Blythe; grandchildren, Krishaun Mays, Mikail (Jasmine) Mays, Nickolas Mays, Abigail and Gabriella Bullen; cherished great-granddaughter, Niomi Mays; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, including Pat Ross and Troy (Andrew) Gaines; as well as longtime family friends, Sikitia (Harold) Lanier and Cornelia Jones, along with many other relatives and friends who will deeply miss him.

In accordance with Charlie’s wishes, a private family gathering will be held at a later date.
