Mark Anthony Wright
May 17, 1959 – October 6, 2026
Frankfort – Mark Anthony Wright, 67, beloved husband of Patty Ann Dunn Wright, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. He was born in Shelbyville on May 17, 1959, to the late Robert "Bobby" Wright Jr. and Anna Jane Shouse Wright.
Mark was a hard worker and a proud business owner. In 1997 he founded Dunn-Wright Electrical Inc., which he owned and ran with skill and integrity for nearly three decades. But the people who knew him best will remember that Mark's heart was always with his music.
Mark was a musician through and through. He was happiest with a guitar in his hands, and he loved writing songs that came straight from his life and the people he loved. Performing gave him a joy he couldn't find anywhere else. Whether he was playing for a full room or a few close friends, Mark gave each song everything he had. Some of his most treasured memories came from the time he spent making music with his son, Dylan. Sharing the stage, the long drives, and the late nights forged a connection that went far beyond the songs they played. Those days were among the proudest of Mark's life.
Mark also loved the game of baseball and loved helping young players grow. In his years as a private baseball coach, he shared his knowledge, patience, and encouragement with many young athletes. He taught them to work hard, to believe in themselves, and to love the game as much as he did. Many of the players he coached will carry his lessons with them on and off the field.
Mark enjoyed horse racing, and he was never more at home than when he was surrounded by the excitement of a day at the track.
Mark loved his family deeply, and few things brought him greater comfort and happiness than spending time with his daughter Alicia. Whether together in person or talking for hours on the phone, those moments were among his most cherished. She was his comfort, his joy, and a special piece of his heart. Their bond was a reflection of the deep and unwavering love he held for his family.
Mark could not have lived his life so fully without his wife, Patty. She was his partner in every sense, cheering him on through every adventure, every performance, and every new dream he chased. When Mark faced his hardest fight, his battle with cancer, Patty stood by him with endless strength and devotion. She cared for him tirelessly, day and night, with a love that never wavered. Her compassion brought him comfort, dignity, and peace through his final days. Mark's family is forever grateful for the love and care she gave him, and they know he was grateful for it every single day.
In addition to his wife, Patty, Mark is survived by his children, Alicia Frink (Joshua), Michelle Ali, Nathan Wright, and Dylan Wright (Kathryn); and his grandchildren, Autumn, Allyson, Sasha, Sydney, Olivia, Penelope, and Barrett, who brought him great joy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Allen Wright.
Mark's music, his laughter, and his love will live on in all who knew him.
