Alonzo "Abe" Lowry

Alonzo “Abe” Lowry died Wednesday night, August 1 after a short illness. He was 85. Abe was born in Lexington, Kentucky, where he lived most of his life. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Kathleen Marie, parents John Richard and Isabel, brother John and sister Jewel. Surviving are daughter, Darla (Scott) Boudreaux of Webb City, MO, son Rick (Becky) Lowry of Florence KY, grandchildren Justin, Amanda and Bryant, brother Alvin and sister Nora. A 1951 graduate of Lafayette High School, as a teenager Abe worked at the Bluegrass Airport, was a pilot and had a lifelong love of airplanes. He attended the University of Kentucky and served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a retiree of IBM and a member of Southland Christian Church. For the past two years, he lived at the Willows at Hamburg, where he made many good friends who enriched his life. A Celebration of Life will be held at Clark Legacy Center in Nicholasville 5:00-7:00 PM Sunday August 5. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Russell Cave Church of Christ.
