Annette Edwards Clark

She was born on May 28th, 1926 to William Hertley Edwards and Bertha Baucom Edwards in Anson County, NC. Annette was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, David McKenzie Clark (d. 2010), by her parents, and all of her siblings. Annette grew up near Charlotte, NC in the small hamlet of Peachland. She graduated from the Womens College of the University of North Carolina, now UNCG. After teaching for a short time, Annette met and married the love of her life, David Clark. Three daughters were born of this union and Annette was a devoted wife and mother. Moving to Williamsburg, VA in the early 1950s began a special time in Annettes life. She so enjoyed living there, raising her children, wonderful friends, and working as an interpretative hostess for Colonial Williamsburg. Enthralled with American history and American antiques, Annette and Dave opened an antique shop in the 1960s. There, they also made beautiful lamps from antique pieces. Antiquing trips were highlights for all of the family. Retiring early due to her husbands health issues, Annette was a selfless caregiver to her husband for many years. During this time, the couple settled in Ashville, NC and began a new hobby. Their collaborative efforts inspired Dave to build beautiful full sized pieces of furniture, as well as miniatures. These are treasured by all fortunate enough to own a piece of his work. Annette was active in her Church, prayer group, and Bible studies. She loved God and served Him her entire life. Her abundant love for people, her joy in life, and her precious sense of humor were always apparent. Her twinkling blue eyes were full of love and laughter. A true southern lady, hers was a life well lived. Annette is survived by three daughters, Janet Clark Metz and husband Bill of Lexington, KY, Alexis Clark Scott and husband Frank of Lexington, KY, and Katherine Clark Moretz of Asheville, NC, and Frank Moretz of Asheville, NC; six grandsons, William Clark Metz, David Clark Scott, Brian Moretz, Matthew Graham Metz, Frank Alexander Scott, and Andrew Moretz; eight great grandchildren; and wonderful nieces and nephews. Funeral Information A Memorial Service will be held at Central Methodist Church, Asheville, NC in the near future.
