Arlene Moccia Smither Ungerbuehler

Obituary Arlene's spirit joined our Creator at 7:07 a.m. on April 5, 2013. She was born July 7th, 1956. She would have said everything worked out just the way it was supposed to according to God's plan. Arlene leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, hope, and laughter. Her love for God and her family were evident not only in her active participation in church but in her daily life, where she allowed God to lead her in every decision, including allowing love and faith to work together when Arlene met her husband Steve at church. Everyone who knew Arlene noted her brilliant mind, and that intelligence combined with her hope led to two successful careers. Arlene taught for 27 years, and no one who entered her classroom ever left without learning both math and life skills; she never gave up hope on any student. She began her second career at Home Depot and was recently recognized at the Store Manager's Meeting Conference in Las Vegas for her outstanding work ethics as an Associate Support Department Supervisor. Her wit was legendary for its quickness, and her laughter was infectious, heard most often when she was with her family, which was her greatest joy. Her life was, indeed, blessed and highly favored. Arlene leaves to remember her love, faith, hope and laughter her beloved husband, Steve; daughters Allyn (Andrew) Simpson and Andria (Matt) Schentrup; son MM1 Matthew Smither; and daughters through marriage Ashley Struble and Amanda Ungerbuehler; parents Dominick and Claire Moccia; brothers David (Anne) Moccia and Donald Moccia; sisters Cheryl Moccia, and Kathy (Barry) Offerdahl; and sister in heart Terri Ann Branson. Her seven grandchildren will remember their "Memaw" for their time with her and through the stories her family passes down: Leilie, Abi, Oliver, Gage, Landon, Vince, and Emalyn. Her many friends and family who were touched by Arlene will never forget her presence in their lives. A mass in her honor will be offered at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 8th, followed by a celebration luncheon. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass. Don't be dismayed at good-byes. A farewell is necessary before you can meet again.
