Clyde N. Bunch

Obituary Local historian Clyde N. Bunch, 77, of Nicholasville, Kentucky and widower of Mildred Alcorn Bunch, died Saturday, March 16, following a lengthy illness. He was the son of the late Clyde and Daisy Baker Bunch of Lexington. Clyde is survived by five daughters, Donna (Barry) Miller, Suedell (George Freitas) Lathrem, Barbara (Robert) Cooper, Brenda (Dean) Geary, and Sandra (Mark) Horton; seven grandchildren, Timothy (Melanie) Cooper, Brandon Cooper, Sam (Heidi) Lathrem, Andrew Lathrem, Kristen Miller, Grant Miller, Tyler Horton, Garrett Woods, and Matthew Woods; five great grandchildren, Maranda Spickard, Dustin Cooper, Starcia Fraley, Kiera Bradley, and Max Webster; niece, Frances Felden; nephew, Carl Pucket, Jr.; and special family members, Amber Wells, Deanne Geary, Kerry Geary, Scott Cooper, and Amanda Cooper. A man of many talents and interests, he was the owner of Clyde's Chevron in Wilmore, worked as a foreman at Standard Products in Lexington, and managed the RC Bottling Company in Williamsburg, Kentucky. He was one of the state's first certified divers, teaching diving to rescue squads throughout the state. A lover of all things related to Jessamine County, he was a member of the Jessamine County Concerned Citizens, and was a founding member and past president of the Jessamine County Historical Society. He was instrumental in the development and restoration of High Bridge Park and served on the Kentucky River Task Force. The Jessamine Chamber of Commerce named him Citizen of the Year in 2006. Mr. Bunch wrote numerous books and articles, and produced several videos related to Jessamine County history. Funeral Information A Gathering of Family and Friends will be 4-7 pm, Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Clark Legacy Center in Brannon Crossing, with a Time of Sharing at 6 pm.
