Eugene "Gene" Shields

Eugene "Gene" Shields, 86, husband of Barbara Moore Shields, passed away Friday, February 13, 2026. He was born in Lexington, Kentucky on February 10, 1940 to the late Nancy Morris and Melvin Shields. He was a minister at Methodist Church.   

In addition to his wife, Barbara, those left to cherish his memory includes his daughters, Becky (Chuck) Burrus, Jodie (Billy) Noe; son, Franklin (Linet) Shields; sisters, Judy Fuller, Vickie Shields Perez; brother, Wayne Shields; 19 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren with two on the way; and 2 great-great grandchildren.   

Besides his parents, Gene is preceded in death by his son, Allen Shields; sisters, Lisa May, Linda Cornette, Gayle Sparks; and brothers, Stanley Shields, Terry Shields, Milton Shields. 

Visitation will be held Saturday, February 21, 2026 from 2-4pm at Clark Legacy Center, Brannon Crossing followed by a memorial service at 4pm officiated by Bro. Bryan Hester, Bros Tim Thompson, and Ron Cook. Burial will take place at a later date at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens.   

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heritage Hospice (specifically Boyle County).
