Fred Jones
Oct 16, 1926 — Mar 18, 2017
Lexington, KY
Fred Jones, 90, died March 18, 2017. He is survived by his daughter Jessie Gladd; sons Johnny James (Cherry) Jones, Alvin Jones and Marlis Jones; sister Nola Osburn; grandchildren Edmond Jones, Alvin Delaney Jones, Fred Christopher Jones, Shannon Renee Hurt, Derrick Brandon Jones, QueAnna Jones and Joshua Jones and 10 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Opal (Johnson) Jones; parents Slaughter and Nannie Bell (Kilburn) Jones and several brothers and sisters.
Fred was a member of the Church of Christ. He was a retired coal miner, but loved his time farming. His most favorite times were spent outdoors with his mules, horses and chickens. Fred was a handy man who could fix most anything. When time permitted, he loved to fish and hunt, or travel the highways and byways of American sight-seeing. Fred was always eager to do something, whether it was to listen to his Christian music, or just spend time with his wife, kids and grandchildren. He was also a very consistent man, which is why he never sat down for a meal, without giving thanks to the Lord.
