Frederick "Fred" Painter Rawlings III, age 64, passed away on May 1, 2018 at Chandler-UK Hospital in Lexington, KY.
Fred was born November 13, 1953 in Orlando, FL to Frederick P. Rawlings Jr. MD and Gwendolyn Goad Rawlings.
Fred attended Lake Wales High School where he was the Key Club President, member of the Honor Society, Latin Club, Science Club and Drum Major for the Highlander Band. He was also awarded the Eagle Scout. He attended Auburn University, Florida State University and the University of Florida, where he graduated with a degree in Zoology. Fred worked for the University of Kentucky for 24 years as the Assistant Director of Radiation Safety and was a member of the Health Physics Society and Director of SEURSO (Southeast University Radiation Safety Officers Society).
Fred enjoyed camping, canoeing and music, particularly bluegrass music where he was a member of a bluegrass band, the Pilot Knob Boys. He skillfully played numerous musical instruments.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frederick P. Rawlings Jr. MD and Gwendolyn Goad Rawlings.
Fred is survived by his wife Martha Lyles Rawlings; sons Frederick "Erick" Rawlings (Rachel) IV and Justin Burleigh Rawlings; grandchildren Miriam, Madeline and Frederick V, Rawlings; sisters Martha Kelsey, Lori Schotman and Kathy(Bryan) Myers and a brother Lee Fox(Elaine) Rawlings.
Memorial Visitation will be held Sunday, May 6, 2018 from 11 AM to 2 PM at Clark Legacy Center-Brannon Crossing, 601 E. Brannon Rd. Nicholasville, KY.
A Memorial Service for Fred Rawlings will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Clark Legacy Center at 2 PM.
