Gary E. Bryant
December 13, 1958 — June 6, 2026
Gary Edward Bryant, 67, of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026, surrounded by family and friends. He was born on December 13, 1958, in Lexington, Kentucky.
Gary spent his final day exactly as he would have wanted—out in the sunshine, at the ballpark, watching two of his granddaughters play softball.
An avid sports fan, Gary’s blood was undeniably UK blue. He spent many years coaching youth sports and in his later years, simply moved his coaching from the field to the sidelines, right outside the fence.
Gary was a graduate of the University of Kentucky and built a career as a Registered Nurse. He dedicated many years of service to caring for psychiatric patients at Eastern State Hospital.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, Charles Bryant; his mother, Eileen Prather; and his beloved “little buddy,” Butterball.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 43 years, Glenda Bryant; his three sons, Dr. Kevin Bryant, Chris (Ashley) Bryant, and Kyle (Ashley) Bryant; his four grandchildren, Ella, Emma, Jordyn, and Bo; two sisters-in-law Wanda Risner Hollon and Janice (Ralph) Potter; two brothers-in-law Gary Risner and Allen Risner; a niece and two nephews whom he loved as his own, Amanda (Nathanial) Cook, Scott (Savannah) Hollon, and Nick Sparks; his fur baby, Daisy; and many other cherished family members and friends.
Gary will never be remembered as someone who “lit up a room”—and he wouldn’t have wanted to be. But there was never any question when Gary Bryant was in the room or on the sidelines of a game. He made sure of that. His presence, his opinions, his dedication to those he loved, and his unmistakable personality will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
His celebration-of-life gathering will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 13th at Clark Legacy Center-Brannon Crossing. Funeral home location: 601 E. Brannon Rd., Nicholasville, KY 40356. Food and refreshments will be served.
To honor Gary’s memory, the family would like to ask everyone to wear UK blue/UK apparel to his service.
