Gerald Russell Aschinger

Gerald “Gerry” Russell Aschinger, 74, husband of Dana Aschinger, passed away at his home Friday, May 17, 2019. Gerry was born on June 23, 1944 in Grand Rapids, MI to the late Helen Triplett and Harold Arthur Aschinger. Gerry was a self-employed entrepreneur and also served in the Army National Guard. In addition to his wife, Gerry is survived by a daughter, Carmen Aschinger Osenbaugh, Ohio; brothers, James Aschinger, PA, and Robert V. Dusz, NJ; and grandchildren Ginger and Nash Osenbaugh. Gerry was a businessman and entrepreneur. He started and ran many successful businesses throughout his life. He was a consummate horseman and together with his wife Dana, developed War Horse Place Farm in Lexington KY in 2004. After breeding the multi-million dollar stakes winning horse, Prayer For Relief, Gerry attained his trainers license and trained for 8 years producing Stakes winners Dramedy and Lots O' Lex Gerry was an avid polo player and member of the United States Polo Association for 32 years. He and his wife Dana played in Dayton OH, Scottsdale AZ and Sarasota FL during his active playing years. He was elected to Governor at Large within the USPA and also became Governor of club membership and development where he started the Polo Plus program. This program is still active today and enables members to receive discounts on many products used by the membership. In 2008 he was asked to be a board member of Global Licensing which runs and manages the USPA clothing industry across the world. He was acting Chairman of this board in 2018. In respect to Gerry’s wishes, no services will be planned. Charitable donations may be made in Gerry’s honor to America’s Vet Dogs, Polo Player’s Support Group, and Permanently Disabled Jockey’s Fund.
