Hugh M. Prather III

Hugh M. Prather III, 66, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2026, in Lexington, Kentucky.Hugh (or more commonly known as Mac, Bob, pops, and pop pop) was born in Lexington, Kentucky, to the late Hugh M. Prather II and Virginia Baynes.Hugh was a simple man with a big personality who most would describe as goofy. He and his daughters had endless inside jokes and the many one liners will live on for years to come in his memory. Those who knew him likely have their own. He enjoyed grilling, watching UK sports and spending time with his beloved dog, Remus. Most importantly, Hugh loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, Henrik, Ezra, Imogen, and Ramona. He enjoyed attending their soccer games, cheering them on from the sidelines and sharing photos and videos of them.Hugh was incredibly proud of his 47-year career with Foam Design Inc., where he dedicated much of his working life. His commitment to his work was an important part of who he was. The friendships he built along the way were dear to his heart. 

Hugh is survived by his daughters, Taren (Jon) Ledang of Nicholasville, Kentucky, and Tonya (Ryan Murphy) Prather of Lexington, Kentucky; his grandchildren, Henrik, Ezra, and Imogen Ledang, and Ramona Murphy; and his sister, Debbie (Martin) Sherrod of Lexington, Kentucky.  He will be missed by his family, friends, coworkers, and all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Prather Gunter.

A gathering of family and friends to remember and celebrate his life is scheduled from 4pm - 6pm Friday, September 25, 2026.
