James Silas "Jim" Medley

James Silas Medley, 91, of Lexington, KY passed away on October 16, 2026.

Jim was born in Charleston, West Virginia to Ruth Fisher Medley and James Henry Medley. He graduated from St. Albans High School in 1953. He served in the Navy National Security Agency from 1953-1956. From 1956-1960, he attended West Virginia State majoring in Psychology. In 2000, he retired from Link-Belt Construction Equipment, International Sales & Marketing. He traveled the world and loved it. He also loved tennis and photography.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and James Henry Medley. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sherrilyn Rice Medley, his sister Marianne Medley, his son Mark Steven Medley, his daughter Dedra Christine Lavigne and his granddaughter Allison Medley.

Per Jim’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral services. There will be a family memorial at a later date. He asked to please consider making donations in his memory to the UK scholarships provided by the University of Kentucky Woman’s Club Aid Fund, P.O. Box 22172, Lexington, KY 40522-2172.
