Jean Ione Labude

Jean Ione (Lundholm) Labude, 94, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2026. She was born on September 2, 1932 to Arvid and Lillian Lundholm in Barron County, WI, the youngest of eight children. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in 1951 and married William Labude on February 9, 1952 in Anchorage, AK where he was stationed with the Air Force. She was a devoted member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir for many years and was active in numerous women’s groups. One of her great loves was quilting, as she made hundreds of quilts alongside church members, which were distributed to those in need. Jean retired from the University of Kentucky in 1992 and was also an active member of the KSPE Auxilliary.

Jean is survived by two sons, David Labude (Marilyn) of Lexington, KY and Mark Labude (Cynthia) of Calera, AL; sister-in-law, Carol Julson of Bluffs, MO; loving grandchildren, Brian Labude, Daniel Labude, Christina Link (Brad), and Amanda Wilder (Stephen); great-grandson, Charlie Wilder; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, all siblings, and one son, Paul Labude. 

A memorial service will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 516 Pasadena Drive, on October 22, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. with a private burial the following morning at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church or to a charity of your choice.
