Obituary
John Blackwell Chenault III, 77, of Lexington, Kentucky and beloved father, husband and brother, passed unto eternity Thursday, June 7, 2012. He was born in Maysville, Kentucky on August 3, 1934 to the late John B. Chenault, Jr. and Luisa Susan Sullivan Chenault.
John is survived by his wife, Eleanor Todd Chenault; his four daughters, Elizabeth Ann Chenault, Carlisle Chenault, Luisa Sullivan Chenault, Sarah Blackwell Chenault (Stephen) Southward; and two grandsons, Joshua Stephen Southward and John Blackwell Southward.
He is also survived by his sisters, Luisa deVarona Chenault and Carlisle Chenault (Philip) Farmer; and stepdaughters, Carolyn Congleton and Susan Congleton (Christopher) Ryman and their children, Dylan and Kathryn.
John was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years and mother of his children, Elizabeth Ann McIntosh Chenault.
John graduated from Columbia Military Academy and received his bachelor's degree from the University of Kentucky where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order. He proudly served in the U. S. Army, worked as an executive for Chevron Oil for two decades and started his own management consultant firm in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was a life-long member of the Christian Church Disciples of Christ and member of Crestwood Christian Church in Lexington, Kentucky. He was also a member of the Lexington Club, a UK Fellow and life member of the University of Kentucky Alumni Association.
John enjoyed golf, travel, reading, movies, UK football and spending time with family and friends.
Funeral Information
Visitation will be 10-11 am, Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Crestwood Christian Church in Lexington, Kentucky; followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11 am, with Dr. James M. Wray and Rev. Kory Wilcoxson officiating.
