John J. Carty, Jr.

John J. Carty Jr. age 59, of Lexington, KY passed away on May 23, 2018 at the VA Medical Center in Lexington, KY. John was born on August 5, 1958 in Sommerville, MA to John Carty and the late Agnes Silva Carty. John was employed as a maintenance engineer at UK. He proudly served his country in the Navy as a Boiler Technician. He was preceded in death by his mother, Agnes Silva Carty, daughter Jamie Carty and brother William Carty. He is survived by his long time companion and partner, Jane Woodrum; daughter Georgeanna (William) Johnson; granddaughter Haylie Shea Johnson; grandson Henry Evan Johnson; sisters Sharon Carty and Stephanie Loeser; special friend and mother of Georgeanna, Theresa Hores. A Memorial Mass will be held at Pax Christi Catholic Church, Lexington, KY at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 26, 2018. Military honors immediately following Mass.
