John Michael Mike Hammonds, Sr., 63, husband of Jeannie Honican Hammonds, died Tuesday March 21, 2017 at Baptist Health Lexington. He was born in Berea, Kentucky, son of the late Richmond and Lena Crace Hammonds. He was former owner of Hammonds Locksmith, he loved hunting, working on his 1955 Chevy and took his granddaughter everywhere, Papaws Taxi. Surviving besides his wife, are his son, John Michael Hammonds, Jr., Nicholasville; two sisters, Brenda {Eddie} Davis, Nicholasville; Karen Lynn {Phil} Guynn, Garrard County; two brothers, Jerry {Karen} Hammonds, Versailles; Ricky Dale {Nancy} Hammonds, Lexington; granddaughter, Bree Ann Hammonds, Nicholasville; several nieces and nephews, several great nieces and great nephews, sister-in-law, Nell Honican; special friend, like a brother, Phil {Brenda} Tackett, Lexington; Richard {Tammy} Flora, Lexington; special friend, like a sister, to Jeannie, Kay Henkel, Rome, Georgia. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lloyd May, Leon and Tommy Hammonds.
Funeral Information
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2017 at Clark Legacy Center Brannon Crossing. His funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2017 with burial to follow in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens.
