John Gilmer Heaton

John Gilmer Heaton, husband of Vivian Evridge Heaton, 90, passed away on April 12, 2018 at St. Joseph East Hospital. John was born in Lexington, KY to the late James and Anna Fry Heaton on November 6, 1927. John held a Masters Degree in Music, was a barber shop singer, co-founder of the Lexington Chapter of Harmony and a member of Barron's Quartet. John served as minister of music for 50 years in several states across the country, his last position as minister of music was at the 1st Christian Church of Georgetown (Disciples). John is survived by his wife Vivian Evridge Heaton; daughters Charlotte (Nick) McFarland, Debbie (Roy) Tudor, Martha (Buz) Skipper, Jodi (John) Duplain and Linda (Alan) Slaughter; grandchildren Erica (Aric) Drake, John (Jeanie) McFarland, Brian (Capella) McFarland, Tom (Caitlyn) Tudor, Jeremiah (Carol) Tudor, Elliott (Megan) Tudor, Sam (Brittany) Tenoria, Chelsie Duplain, Chris Duplain (Vienna), Kristin Slaughter and Tabor Slaughter; 13 great grandchildren; sister Lillian Markussen; brother Jerry Heaton. Memorial service in the Chapel at Calvary Baptist Church at 4:00 p.m. Sunday April 15.
