John Creason Sumpter Jr.

A native of Louisville, he was the son of the late J.C. and Gertrude Gossman Sumpter. John was an IBM retiree, former auctioneer, a member of the Masonic Robert M. Sirkle Lodge # 954 and a member of Woodford Christian Church. He enjoyed fishing, refinishing furniture, and antiques. In addition to his wife, Mary Ruth Sumpter, he is survived by a daughter, LeAnne Nash, Versailles, a son, John Sumpter, III, Lexington, his sister Mary Jo James, Seymour, IN, and 3 grandchildren; Dylan Sumpter and Benjamin and Dennis Nash. Funeral Information A funeral service will be held 10:00am, Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill in Versailles, Ky. burial to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 5:00pm - 8:00pm, Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at the funeral home. Serving as casketbearers will be Dylan Sumpter, Dennis Nash, David Wheeler, David Graves, Chip James and Steve Johnson. Honorary casketbearers will be Chris Meek, and Tom James.
