Julia Anna Tussey
Jul 22, 1948 — Aug 25, 2026
Julia Anna Tussey, 78, of Lexington, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. She was born on July 22, 1948, in Lexington, the oldest of four children of the late Cliff Craig Tussey, Jr. and Mary Agnes (Gabbard) Tussey. A graduate of Lexington Catholic High School, she remained close with many of her classmates throughout her life and often reminisced about growing up in Chevy Chase, working at Wheeler’s Pharmacy, and adventures with her childhood friend, Linda Borne.
Julia loved crossword puzzles, murder mysteries, and anything that challenged her to solve a puzzle. She also found joy in gardening and watching the wildlife that visited her flowers. Devoted to her rescue cats, Julia took great pleasure in giving them a loving home. She was preceded in death by her faithful companions, Lily, Jasmine, Poppy, Pansy, Cosmos, and Daisy.
Julia carried on her family’s jewelry business, which she operated for more than 40 years. Originally opened by her grandfather as a general store, the business evolved through the generations into a fine jewelry store known for its quality and long-standing customer relationships.
She is survived by her brothers, Cliff Craig Tussey III and Brian (Freida) Tussey; sister, Mary Catherine Tussey; nieces Ashlyn (Eric) Maurice, Sarah (Jesse) Brumfield, and Anna (Paul) Tussey; niece of the heart Elizabeth (Rachelle) Borne; nephew Cliff Craig (Phoebe) Tussey IV; and godson, Kevin (Wendy) Borne, and nephew of the heart David (Elise) Borne, as well as countless loving friends and family members. In addition to her parents, Julia was preceded in death by her uncle and aunt, Edwin and Ethel (Smith) Tussey.
The family would like to express its sincere gratitude to Al and Linda Borne, Phil Dunn, Dave Mullett, Jeff Preston, and Craig Tussey III for their constant support and friendship.
To honor the life of Juila, a gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, September 26, 2026 from 1-4pm at Clark Legacy Center, Brannon Crossing.Â
