Kathleen Steele Long

Kathleen Steele Long, 73, passed away at her home in Wilmore, KY on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 with her beloved life partner, Elbert Kirkland and Matthew Kirkland, whom she loved like a son, by her side. Kathleen was born June 16, 1944 to the late Loren Marlin Long and Mary Leaven Mood in Detroit, MI. Kathleen held a Master's Degree in English and was employed by UK prior to her retirement, as secretary of Neurosurgery. Kathleen is survived by Elbert and Matthew Kirkland and Elbert's children, Jeanne Hamilton and Mathew Kirkland Sr, as well as a sister, Evelyn Hapke of St. Paul MN and a brother Loren Long III of Boca Raton, FL. A Celebration of Kathleen's life will be held on Monday, April 9, 2018 from 5-8 PM at Clark Legacy Center, 601 E. Brannon Rd. Nicholasville, KY. The family requests' contributions in her memory to the Woodford County Humane Society.
