Kenney Bromley Watson

Lexington, Kentucky Kenney Bromley Watson, 83, of Lexington, died on April 5, 2016 at Lexington Country Manor. He was born on August 28, 1933 in Lexington, son of John Homer Watson and Frances Bromley Watson, both of Lexington. Mr. Watson was a graduate of Lafayette High School. Following high school, he married Betty J. Colliver of Lexington and Athens High School. Mr. and Mrs. Watson were married on national TV in Radio City Music Hall on NBC's "Bride and Groom." In 1956 Mr. Watson enlisted into the United States Air Force and served as an Air Force Policemen, canine division, while stationed in Libya. Following his honorable discharge in 1962 Mr. Watson became a member of the Lexington Police Department and was selected by late Chief of Police E. C. Hale to head the Commonwealth of Kentucky's first Canine Division. Mr. Watson retired from the Police Department as Assistant Chief in 1997. Mr. Watson was an avid golfer, fisherman and sports fan, taking fishing trips to Canada, helping coach Little League and Babe Ruth baseball, and managing the Blue Grass Army Depot golf course. Mr. Watson was a loving, caring father, son and brother, cherished husband, proud grandfather and great grandfather, a good cop, a loyal friend, and a truly compassionate and kind human being. He was a man of faith and left this world knowing a better place waited for him and his loved ones. Mr. Watson is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty J. (Colliver) Watson; three children Keith B. (and his wife Sarah)(Louisville), Kevin B. (Philadelphia) and Kirk E. Watson (Lexington). He was predeceased by his youngest son Kelly D. Watson (Lexington). He is also survived by his brothers, Ronald E., George F. and Michael L. Watson; his grandchildren, Adam, Evan, McKenzie, Lake, Kennedy, Jake, Maggie, and Sam Watson; his great grandchildren, Fiona, Freya and Ivy Watson; as well as many beloved family members. Funeral Information A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 8, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Clark Legacy Funeral Home, 601 E. Brannon Road, Nicholasville, KY 40356 Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Watson will be buried at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
