Martha Jean Sergent

Martha Jean Sergent, 80, wife of the late William Monty Sergent, passed away on July 10, 2026 in Lexington. She was born in Lexington, Kentucky on August 10, 1945 to the late Delza and Susie Sexton Maggard. She was a sales associate for many years with Sears and Roebuck in Lexington.

She is survived by her daughter, Margaret (Buddy) Hurt, of Versailles, her sister, Carrie Maggard (Diana) of Lexington, her brother, Raymond (Jenny) Maggard, of Lexington, grandchildren, Laykin Elizabeth Hurt, and Caleb (Jordyn) Hurt, and two great grandchildren, Rearden and Riley Hurt.

In addition to her husband William, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Lynette Kay Sergent, sisters, Lelia Jennings and Deanna Combs, and her brother, Delza Maggard Jr.

Visitation will be held at Clark Legacy Center, Brannon Crossing on Thursday July, 16, 2026 beginning at 12:00 PM. Funeral services will follow the visitation led by Rev. Samuel Peoples.
