Mary Margaret Barber Dempster, 83, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018. The widow of Mr. Harvey M. Dempster, Mary was born December 13, 1934 to the late Ollie and Alma Barber in Bath County, Kentucky. The mother of 5 boys, she was a very strong, outspoken woman with a heart of gold. Mary loved being a mother, wife, and grandmother and took her role very seriously earning the title of “World’s Greatest”. She loved flowers, especially if they were purple, and will be thought of fondly with every beautiful bloom.
Mary is survived by her sons, Donnie (Paula) Barber, Lexington, Ricky (Jennifer) Barber, Versailles, Harvey G. (Lisa) Dempster, Lexington, Gerald (Jennifer) Dempster, Lexington, and Mike Dempster, Lexington; sister, Ina Greenberry; brother, Jimmy (Pat) Barber, Lexington; her grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her loving husband, Harvey M. Dempster, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Donald Barber, Thomas Barber, and Roger Barber.
A Funeral Service will be held 12:30p, Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Lafayette Church of the Nazarene, 264 Lafayette Pkwy, Lexington, KY. Pastor Jared K. Henry will officiate. Burial will follow at Camp Nelson National Cemetery, Nicholasville, KY. A visitation will be held from 10:30a-12:30p prior to service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks Memorial Donations be sent to Lafayette Church of the Nazarene, 264 Lafayette Pkwy, Lexington, KY.
