Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Hoback, 76, of Lexington, KY, formerly of Winston-Salem, NC, died peacefully in her sleep on July 27, 2018 in her home. Born December 18, 1941 in Jacksonville, FL, she is preceded in death by her parents Robert Henry Hoback and Helen Comer Neal. Beth grew up in Bluefield, WV and graduated from John Motley Morehead High School in Eden, NC and then went on to become Miss West, VA in 1960. She later married and became a military spouse for 20 years and lived in and traveled to many places around the world. She graduated from American University with a degree in nursing and later in life became a flight attendant. She is most remembered for her empathetic nature and her love of nurturing others. Beth enjoyed simple pleasures such as, cooking, playing with her grandchildren and taking long walks. Beth is survived by two children, Asiah Hudson Welty of Lexington, KY and Roland Banks Hudson, IV (Andrea) of Lexington, KY; her six grandchildren, John Welty, Jacob Welty, Landon Hudson, Rylee Hudson, Will Welty and Maggie Hudson; her beloved sister, Sharon Hoback Massaroni of W. Palm Beach, FL and brother, Martin Neal of Princeton, WV. Also, she is lovingly remembered by nieces Darci M. Burke and Ashley M. Navarro, both of FL and nephews William and Michael Neal of Princeton, WV. She leaves behind many very close friends and neighbors who loved her dearly. Beth will be remembered for her enthusiasm and love of life and adventure. Private services will be held in Beckley, WV. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass,2312 Alexandria Drive, Lexington, KY 40504.
