Matthew Franklin Kash

Matthew Franklin Kash, 60, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2026, in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born on May 28, 1966, in Ashland, Kentucky, to the late Irvin and Dorothy Kash.

Matthew worked for Kroger in Nicholasville, Kentucky, for more than 35 years. He also worked with IATSE Local 346 as a stagehand at Rupp Arena, the Lexington Opera House, and with the Lexington Philharmonic for many years.

Matthew had a true passion for music. He was a drummer for his band, Tara Thunder, and was a devoted fan of his favorite band, Rush. His love of music was an important part of his life and brought him great joy.

He is survived by his daughters, Kaitlin and Meghan Kash, whose mother is Kelli Kash, and his daughter, Patricia Kash; three grandchildren; his sister, Sondra White of Lexington, Kentucky; and his brother, Mark (Sue) Kash of Nicholasville, Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Kash.
