May Emma Housner

Nicholasville, KY May E. Housner, 94, died May 28, 2017. May was a longtime resident of Brighton, MI until her retirement in 1985 from Brighton Area Schools as Food Services Director. Upon retirement, she moved to Punta Gorda, FL where she lived until 2010. She lived with her son (Ernie) then with her daughter (Cathy) until her death on May 28, 2017. She was born May 12, 1923 in Farmington, MI. May was the daughter of Arthur and Anna (Walkoff) Luttermoser. The family moved to New Hudson, MI where she graduated from New Hudson High School in 1942. After graduation, she worked as a riveter at the Willow Run Bomber plant. On February 22, 1947, she married Roland Wesley Housner in Brighton, MI. He preceded her in death on May 17, 1971. Wes served in the Marines during World War II in the Far East. Following Wes's death, May's longtime companion was Cass Zalewski until he deceased in 2006. Surviving are her children: Cathy Doan, Randy Housner (Cathy), Ernie Housner (Elaine Flowers), Julie Santinga (Thor). Her grandkids include: Brian Shearer (Andrea), Keith Doan (Sherry), Thomas Doan (Kristin), and Cameron Morris (Lauren). Her great grandchildren include: Dylan, Garrett, Riley, Gyler, and Caden. Her sister Julia (Annie) Falk survives, she was preceded in death by: Warren, Richard, Norm, Otto, Doris, June, and Esther. May loved her family and enjoyed many friends. She was an avid golfer, belonged to bowling leagues, enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling, working crossword puzzles, listening to music, and had a profound love of dogs. While living with Ernie, she became a member of the First Redeemed Church in Cummings, GA. She was also a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Funeral Information There will be a gathering of Mays family and friends from 12-2PM, Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Clark Legacy Center in Brannon Crossing, followed by a celebration of her life at 2PM.
