Nathanael Paul Waters, 46, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2026 at UK Chandler Medical Center. He also chose to be an organ donor to save lives, as a final gift to those in need. He was born on October 7, 1979 in Lexington, Kentucky to Paula Dodson. Nate was later adopted by his father Michael Waters.
Nate was a more than a self-employed musician. Nate was a professional front man, who was well known not only in the Lexington community, but also around the globe. Nate was an artist, a self-taught musician, who played every instrument, he wrote and recorded his own songs and those of others, he also produced, booked, toured, created, merchandised, promoted and supported musicians at every opportunity. "Nate was Music", as a good friend of his recently said. He was also a supportive father, who loved his children immensely.
Beside his parents, those left to cherish his memory includes his only daughter, Madeline Elisa Waters; two sons, Garreth Hayden Waters, Dylan Lucas Ritchie; a sister, Heather (Gavin Kirby) Waters; niece, Amelia Kirby; mother of his children, Tracy Ritchie; stepfather, Terry Dodson; many close friends, who he called his 'brothers' including, Andy Hibpshman, Robert Gunning, Kevin Davis, Chandler Nathan Davis, Mark Borders, Mike Newsome; and many more very close friends and extended family.
Nate is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at Clark Legacy Center, Brannon Crossing from 10am-1:30pm with a time of sharing starting at 1:30pm. We will then proceed to Bluegrass Memorial Gardens for burial to be held at 3pm.
