Patsy Edeline Smith

Patsy Edeline Smith, 83, of Lexington, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family on Thursday, August 27th at Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington.

Born in Knox County, KY, on August 28th, 1942, Patsy was the beloved daughter of the late Burt West & Ruth Williams.

Patsy’s greatest joy in life was her family. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her six children: Pam (Todd) Rion of Hamilton, OH; Robbie (Bunny) Smith of Lexington; Lorraine Smith of Lexington; Susan (Rodney) Hittle of Arcanum, OH; Gary Allen Smith Jr. of Lexington; and Scott (Lisa) Smith of Nicholasville. She was also blessed with 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, each of whom brought immeasurable joy to her life.

She is also survived by her brother Charles West of New Albany, IN and Lavada Ashcraft of Cynthiana, KY.

Patsy was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 52 years, Gary, who passed away in 2025.

Patsy had a deep love for her life and cherished every moment spent with her family, lifelong friends, and those she held dear. She had a special gift for making people feel loved simply by being herself. Her interests and passions included researching her family ancestry, gardening, birdwatching caring for her beautiful flowers, and making her family Christmas candy – a tradition that will forever hold sweet memories for those who were fortunate enough to enjoy it.

Above all, Patsy will be remembered for the love she gave, the memories she created, and the lasting impact she had on everyone blessed to know her. Her absence will be deeply felt, but her spirit, her love and the lessons she shared will live on through her family for generations to come.
