Ray Allen Towles

Sep 23, 1964 — Oct 18, 2026

Ray Allen Towles, 62, of Harrodsburg, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, October 18, 2026. A Lexington native, Ray was born September 23, 1964, to the late Robert Sherman Towles and Judith Osborne Hughes. He was a Christian and a graduate of Tates Creek High School, Class of 1982.

Ray was a man who could figure out how to do just about anything with his hands. He spent many years as a general contractor building homes before going on to work with CBCE Contractors and Lagco Excavation. A gifted carpenter and natural tinkerer, Ray took pride in working with his hands and had a knack for mastering whatever project he took on.

Outside of work, Ray found his greatest enjoyment in the outdoors. He especially loved spending time in the Red River Gorge, where he could hike, explore, and simply enjoy being outside. He also enjoyed kayaking, reading, high-level tinkering, and operating his radio-controlled vehicles and boats. And anyone who knew Ray knew he could also cook a good meal.

Ray lived life in his own way and had a curious mind and a wide range of interests. He will be remembered for his ability to build, fix, create, and figure things out, but most importantly, he will be remembered by those who loved him and the memories they shared with him.

Ray is survived by his adult child, Audrey Towles; his sister, Tamitha Ann “Tammie” (Ron) Martin; Audrey’s children, Oliver Dalton Ambrose DeCresci and Isla Rose DeCresci; nieces, Samanitha R. Martin and Courtney B. Martin; and many dear cousins and extended family members.

A special appreciation is extended to Lee Towles, Ray’s first cousin, who maintained a close and meaningful relationship with Ray throughout the years.

Though Ray’s passing was unexpected and has left those who knew him with a deep sense of loss, his life will be remembered through the people he loved, the things he created, and the many memories he leaves behind.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, November 16, 2026, at Clark Legacy Center – Brannon Crossing in Nicholasville.
