Obituary
REBECCA MCCARTY EPPERSON
Rebecca McCarty Epperson, 61, died July 20, 2013, in Lexington, Kentucky.
Rebecca Jane McCarty was born September 14, 1951, in Henderson, Kentucky, to Hayden and Frances Lacefield McCarty. She was a 1969 graduate of Henderson High School and received bachelor and master degrees in social work from the University of Kentucky.
After college she made her home in Lexington and was employed by the Fayette County juvenile court, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the Fayette County school system, where for many years she was a school social worker at Cardinal Valley Elementary. At the time of her death, she was a member of the Southern Bluegrass Citizen Review Panel, a child fatality review board.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Epperson, by Elizabeth's father, Glen Epperson, and by beloved rescued Dachshund Lucy, all of Lexington; mother Frances McCarty of Oak Forest, IL; brothers Thomas McCarty (Carol) of Slidell, Louisiana, and Steven McCarty (Sharon Burton) of Henderson; sisters Mary Doran (Edward) of Oak Forest and Julianna Calderon (Rodolfo) of Henderson; nieces and nephews, extended family and devoted friends.
Becky was a generous and loyal friend and a compassionate person who devoted her life to the troubled and the less fortunate. We will miss her every day and love her always.
