Rev. Doug Simpson

Rev. Doug Simpson, 67, husband of Connie Bell Simpson, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2019. He was born in Frankfort on May 6, 1951 to the late Douglas Farrell Simpson and Barbara Mills Ward. He was a bi-vocational pastor until he retired from the office of Disability Determination Services in Frankfort in 2001. He began his public ministry in October of 1970. He served as Pastor of Mt Carmel Baptist Church for 4 years; was the Pastor of St John Baptist Church for 10 years; and served as the Pastor of Pinckard Baptist Church for 25 years until his retirement in 2010. While serving his community through ministry, he received recognition of over 20 years of service with the “Key to the City of Versailles” in 2005. He represented his congregation annually in the Martin Luther King’s Day celebrations, and also received honor as being named a Kentucky Colonel in 2001. He served in many capacities within the Woodford County Ministerial Association and also the Elkhorn Baptist Association. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Christopher Douglas (Michelle) Simpson, Midway, and Laura Beth (Jed) Dorough, Versailles; his sisters, Becky (Jason) Cunningham, Frankfort, and Kim (Danny) Walker, Frankfort; his brothers, David (Gaye) Simpson, Frankfort, Jeff (Philda) Simpson, Frankfort, and Matthew (Holly) Simpson, CA; his grandchildren, Abby, Jake, and Anna Dorough; as well as several nieces and nephews. Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Friday, April 5, 2019 from 1:00pm until 4:00pm at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bluegrass Hospice Care.
