Richard A. Johnson
May 14, 1936 — Jul 14, 2018
Richard A. “Dick” Johnson, 82, died July 14, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Shirley A. (Barnum) Johnson; daughters Debbie (Jeff) Hoppe and Diane (Robert) Morgan; 4 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Ruth (Hemmen) Johnson; son Douglas (Becky) Johnson and brother William Johnson.
Dick was a meat cutter for 34 years, but retired from the State of Illinois’ Toll Commission. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing golf and traveling throughout the U.S., having visited 49 of 50 states. He and Shirley also traveled throughout the Islands, Mexico and the British Isles. Recently, he became somewhat of a homebody; mostly enjoying watching one of the many sports games he followed on TV. When they got out of the house, they enjoyed watching horse races, or trying their luck at a casino. Dick was a wonderful husband and father and will be remembered for his great sense of humor.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Wesley Village in Wilmore, KY, or to The First Presbyterian Church in Mountain Home, Ark.
There will be an inurnment at a later date in Illinois.
