Rita K. Lauderdale, 70, wife of John H. Lauderdale, passed on Tuesday, May 7, 2019. She was born in Huntingburg, IN on August 5, 1948 to the late William and Katherine Songer Astrike. Rita was a retired elementary school counselor for Fayette County School Systems and a member of Versailles Baptist Church. She volunteered at Versailles Food Pantry.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Klarissa L. (Jason H.) Powell, Antioch, IL, Amanda K. (John) Moffett, Versailles, and Bethany (Bryce) Butler, Louisville; her brother, Randy (Mary) Astrike, FL.; and her grandchildren, Makenna, Will, Keegan, Jackson, Savannah, Maya, Mateo, Madison, Sawyer, Isabella, Merynn, McKinley, Amelia, and Myra.
Gathering of Friends and Family will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019 from 1:00pm until 5:00pm at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Galilean Children’s Home.
She served in the children’s ministry at Bible Study Fellowship and mentored students in VBC’s after school Hispanic ministry. Rita loved traveling the world with John and enjoyed spending time with her 3 daughters and their 14 rambunctious grandchildren!!! She stayed active by participating in water aerobics at Falling Springs, was an avid reader and lover of Jesus!!! Her encouraging words and loving smile touched everyone she met!!!
