Ruth Elizabeth MacIntosh Eveland, passed away January 25, 2018 in Lexington. Ruth was born March 12, 1932 to the late Cliff and Nell Meek MacIntosh in Newark, NJ.
Aside from her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Bob Eveland and son in law Raymond Drown.
Ruth was a homemaker for many years before earning her Master's Degree in Education. She retired from Luzerne County, Pennsylvania as a teacher. Ruth and her late husband Bob loved animals and spent many years as dog breeders, breeding Black Labrador Retrievers for hunting and Great Pyrenees as show dogs.
Ruth is survived by her daughter Diane Drown; grandchildren Shannon Drown of Louisville and Dylan Drown of Lexington; sister in law Jean Eveland; a niece and several nephews.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to special caregivers; Janice Quillen, Natalia Stets, Katelyn Quillen, Vera Mironyuk, Tracy Byrne, staff and volunteers at Best Friends as well as Lindsay and Daniel Helo.
The family will be taking Ruth to her final resting place in New Jersey at a later date and have requested contributions be made in honor of Ruth Eveland to the Best Friends Program, Sanders-Brown Clinic on Aging or an Animal Shelter/Humane Society of your choice.
