Sharon West McKenney

Sharon West McKenney, 74, of Lexington, Kentucky went home to be with Jesus on October 8, 2026.

She was born in Lexington, Kentucky to Earl and Katherine West and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Kentucky. After marrying her husband, Charlie, and raising her two boys, she began teaching first grade and music at the Lexington Christian Academy. She always had a deep passion for music, playing piano at Porter Memorial Baptist Church for decades, and she dedicated her life and her gifts to glorifying the Lord.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Katherine West and her brother, Lynn West. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Charlie McKenney, Sr., her sister, Marie White, her sons Chuck (Jessica) McKenney and L.A. (Keri) McKenney and her two granddaughters, Ashlyn and Ella McKenney, who she absolutely adored.

Visitation will be held at Porter Memorial Baptist Church on Saturday, October 17th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a service celebrating her life immediately following at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to The Gideons International.
