Susan Jeanne Petty

Susan Jeanne Petty, 78, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2026. She was born on March 3, 1948 in Montpelier, Vermont to the late Marjorie Bedell and Albert Murtagh. Ms. Petty was a former member of her hometown church, Saint Augustine's in Vermont.

In her free time she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, puzzles and games. She also loves game shows, soap operas and music. 

Those left to cherish her memory includes her daughters, Karen Harris, Stephanie (James) Cleary; sister, Sandra (Mike) Hopkins; brothers, Edward (Hazel) Murtagh, Andrew Murtagh; sister-in-law, Diane Murtagh; grandchildren, Parker (Courtney) Harris, Kaden Lear, Karson Lear, Tate Lear, Piper Lear, Adam Cleary; and several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents, Ms. Petty is preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Kathy Murtagh; and brothers, David Murtagh, Richard Murtagh, Gary Murtagh, Steven Murtagh.

Her family will be carrying out her wishes and plans to take her back to Vermont.
