Teretha (Byers) Mems

Teretha (Byers) Mems, 80, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2026. She was born on June 14, 1945, in Hattieville, Arkansas to the late James and Curella Patterson Byers.  A resident of Lexington, Kentucky, Teretha was a cherished figure in her community and will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. Teretha, known for her carefree spirit and strength, lived her life according to her own terms as a living testimony. She shared a passion for music, dancing and celebrating family.  As a homemaker, Teretha dedicated her life to creating a dynamic and welcoming home environment for family and friends.  Her commitment to friends and family was evident in every aspect of her life. Known as a woman of strength and a soulful sprit, Teretha will live on through her legacy and generations to cherish. Teretha was preceded in death by her loving spouse of 26 years of marriage, Jimmy Mems Jr. She is survived by her loving son, Jimmy Mems III (Christy) grandchildren; Talisa Mems (Andrané), Justin Mems (Lonnece), Josh Mems, Jacob Mems, 5 great grandchildren; a beloved brother; John Byers, and numerous family and friends who will cherish her memory.  Teretha's life was commemorated through enduring dedication to her family and friends and the momentous times she shared with those around her. She will be deeply missed by all who loved and cherished her. The family will hold a private homegoing celebration to honor the life and legacy of Teretha.
