Thomas Patrick Lundergan

Thomas Patrick “Tom” Lundergan, died surrounded by his family on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at his home in Versailles, Kentucky at the age of 65. Tom was born June 21, 1953, in Maysville, Kentucky, to his loving parents, Eugene and Thelma Lundergan (McHugh). He was the fourth of five children and loved his siblings, Bonnie, Jerry, Mike, and Peggy fiercely throughout his life. Tom graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in Maysville in 1971. While at St. Patrick’s, Tom met the love of his life, Lynne Frasure Lundergan. The smartest decision Tom ever made was asking out the beautiful girl from Ripley and they were married in 1975. Through 44 years of marriage, they shared many happy times and created a loving, funny, and adventurous home for their four children: Tiffany, Elliott, Cody, and Max. Tom loved to spend time spoiling his five grandchildren Olivia, Natalie, Lucy Rose, Thomas Henry, and Mae. Anyone who met Tom Lundergan knew that he was a very hard worker in whatever he did. Tom’s long, successful career began as a young boy working county fairs with his father and brothers. Tom attended the Maysville Community College and the University of Kentucky. He then delivered ice cream for French Bauer, opened a deli in the Civic Center Shops, and grew a very successful and long-standing family catering business where he traveled around the country conducting large catering jobs for professional sporting events. He was decisive and with one glance at an empty space, knew immediately how to stage it for an amazing event. Tom’s tremendous work ethic extended to his voluntary service. He joined the Knights of Columbus in 1971 where remained a life-long member and quickly became a Third Degree Knight. Tom was a long-time member of St. Leo Catholic Church in Versailles where he was often called upon to use his talents in service of the parish. He was also generous with his time and service to Taylor Manor in Versailles. Tom’s zest for life, exuberant sense of humor, and gregarious personality shined through in all that he did. He loved nothing more than being on his boats with his family on Dale Hollow Lake. Tom’s sense of adventure was matched by his love of telling stories. He dreamed of joining the circus as a young boy. He loved to travel and discover the best hole in the wall dives. Tom walked in every room as if he was supposed to be there, especially if he wasn’t. He had the most infectious laugh and loved talking on the phone. Tom made an indelible mark on the lives of those who were lucky enough to cross paths with him. Whether you met him briefly or knew him for decades, you never forgot him. Tom was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, brother, son, boss, and friend. Tom lives on in his wife, his children and their spouses, his grandchildren, his brothers and sisters, his nieces and nephews, his friends, his co-workers, and all those he impacted daily. Tom is survived by his wife, Lynne (Frasure); his children, Tiffany Salsman (Nicholas), Elliott Lundergan (Kateleen), Cody Lundergan (Katie Glass), and Max Lundergan; his grandchildren Olivia and Natalie Salsman, Lucy Rose, Thomas Henry, and Mae Marshall Lundergan; his siblings Bonnie Weber (Robert), Jerry Lundergan (Charlotte), Mike Lundergan (Cindy), and Peggy Patterson (Bill). Serving as pallbearers will be Tom’s life-long friend J. C. Fearis and his six nephews Troy Adams, Clay Adams, Ben Weber, Kristopher Riffe, Jonathan Schumacher, and Carter Schumacher. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 16, 2019 1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. at St. Leo Catholic Church in Versailles. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 17, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Leo Catholic Church with Father Danny Schwendeman officiating. Burial will follow on Monday at 3:30 p.m. at St. Patrick Cemetery in Maysville, KY. A celebration of life reception to follow the burial at Caproni’s on the River in Maysville.
