Timothy Craig Shackelford

May 16, 1954 — August 29, 2018

NICHOLASVILLE, KY – A Memorial Service for Timothy Craig Shackelford, 64, will be held on Tuesday September 4th at Clark Legacy Center, 601 E Brannon Rd, Nicholasville, KY 40356. Visitation will begin at 5:30 PM, with a service from 6:30 to 7:00 PM. Officiating will be Dr. Bill Moore. Tim passed away on August 29, 2018 after living a full and memorable life. The youngest child of Guy Kraft Shackelford and Dorothy Nan Shackelford, Tim was born in Dallas, Texas on May 16, 1954. His early years were spent in Texas before the family moved to Shreveport, Louisiana in 1965. There the family thrived, putting down roots and making lifelong friends. Tim became a member of MYF through First United Methodist Church and played football throughout his high school years. Weekends were for fishing and summers were spent skiing on Lake Ouachita with his family. He also found his first true love: music. Graduating from Captain Shreve High School in 1972, Tim went on to Louisiana Tech where he played intramural tennis and was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. In 1980, Tim married Sheila Beth Gordon. They started their family in Shreveport and eventually moved to Nicholasville, Kentucky in 1994. Tim was a true character who could make the perfect wisecrack at the drop of a hat, and at 6’7”, he was truly larger than life. When not making a joke, he was experimenting with a new recipe, strumming his 12 string guitar, or sipping a rum and diet while spending time with friends and family. Tim is survived by his wife, Sheila Beth Gordon Shackelford, son Cody Evan Shackelford (Sarah Eileen), daughter Chelsea Nicole Shackelford Rich (Daniel Dean), grandchildren Sophia Annette Shackelford (Cody and Sarah), and Warren Guy Rich (Chelsea and Daniel), brother John Keith Shackelford, Sister-in-law Rosalyn Rita Nicholas Shackelford, and nephews Adam David Swales and John Bradley Shackelford. He is preceded in death by parents Guy Kraft Shackelford and Dorothy Nan Shackelford. The Shackelford family will greatly miss Tim as husband, father, and Papaw, but they are immensely thankful for the love and legacy he leaves with them.
